Kenya Mission Trip
Swahiba Networks
In the heart of Nairobi, Kenya lies Africa’s largest slum - the Kibera slums. In these slums, poverty and lack of clean water run rampant.
Many widows live trying to raise their children with less than $5 a month. The girls in the slums lack access to sanitary products, which keeps them from going to school during their monthly menstruation. But staying home due to lack of sanitary products exposes the girls to an even worse fate, as this is when these young girls are a target for sexual violence. Many children in the slums have a father who has abandoned them, thus leaving them without resources like food, clothes, and education. Without a father, these children know that they will live and die in the slums of Kibera.
While the problems may seem overwhelming, there is hope.
“He defended the cause of the poor and needy. Is that not what it means to know me?” declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 22:16
Join us as we partner with Swahiba Networks as we seek to bring the gospel to every table in the Kibera slums. During this trip, we will:
-
deliver food baskets to widows
-
host a shoe drive for children to give them a pair of shoes
-
encourage and teach girls in the purity program who have been affected by sexual violence and discrimination
-
encourage and visit boys in juvenile detention
-
organizing sports camps for the community
-
…and more.
In every interaction, we will share the gospel and pray for those we have the honor to serve in the slums of Kenya.
